The Secret of Success

How to Pass a Degree with Confidence
A study guide for a university or college degree.

Anthony Fox MSc BSc Hons

The secret of success is effort and determination; I have a Masters’ in Science MSc (Software Engineering (Artificial Intelligence)), and Bachelor of Science Honours BSc Hons (Computing), and both of these degrees took a great deal of effort on my part combined with the determination to succeed.

Give me an Olympic gold for effort, because without it, you are not going anywhere. And I mean it. There are no shortcuts in life, you only imagine there are. Every person is captain of their own ship, where you want to go, it’s up to you. Your success is not proportional to the effort you put in, that part is purely random.
.
I can win the lottery in a second, but spend a lifetime finding a cure for cancer. Which is more rewarding?

Currently, I am working on my third book which is a novel and believe me it is hard work with no guarantee of success.

Do not fear failure because the act of taking part is a success. When an athlete takes part in a race there are many competitors but there can be only one winner, but getting there and taking part is a success.

Remember, Confucius said,” a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Here is a list of stories included in “How to Pass a Degree with Confidence” they are not in any order, purely random.

To be or not to be

It’s never too late

We don't all wear the same shoes

We have all the time in the world

Sat there like a Cheshire cat

There’s a bit more meat on the bone

More stress than a chaining smoking nurse

The golden rule

How I got my T-Shirt

A girl came knocking on my window

Realise your potential it’s within you to succeed. Your success is not proportional to the effort you put in, that part is purely random.

I can win the lottery in a second, but spend a lifetime finding a cure for cancer. Which is more rewarding?

I devote a chapter in my book to: why students fail with explanation and examples so that you don’t fail?

Plus: the number one topic you should understand, it could mean the difference between passing and failing?

The book “How to Pass a Degree with Confidence” also includes the following:

A study guide including:  How to write your project or dissertation, exam preparation, how to research, time management, how to reference correctly, critical thinking, how to study, how to revise, a girl game knocking at my window, how to build confidence, the need to set goals, a student perspective, how to cope with stress, how to cope with meagre funds, score more goals than Casanova, top tips for university, and much more.

Why Every Student of Appropriate Age Should Watch This Film?

How to Pass a Degree with Confidence
A study guide for a university or college degree.

Anthony Fox MSc BSc Hons

This film should be screened in every school, college, and university especially to those less privileged students around the world in places such as India, China, Russia, and Africa in fact universally made available to all students rich and poor. I cannot stress enough the significance of this film for inspiring confidence in students and understanding the importance of debate. The film is called “The Great Debaters” and is a true story.

Debate is fundamental and it is the basis of democracy, and how laws are formed by a consensus of members provided they are given a free vote without the doctrine of a political party to adhere to. The same applies to law courts when a case is argued adversarially on both sides in front of a jury. The jury is there to understand what the truth is, and to find a consensus.

Above all the film will inspire confidence in students and to learn respect for others. It is a thought-provoking film that I believe will help negate bigotry or bias from our reasoning as human beings.

The chapter on Critical Thinking subheadings are: What is Critical Thinking, How to Approach Critical Thinking and Analysis, Conclusion, and There’s a Bit More Meat on the Bone.

I devote a chapter in my book to why students fail with explanations and examples so that you don’t fail?

Those investors should have sought advice from an communications engineer like me before investing granny's savings.

The following excerpt (How to Pass a Degree with Confidence) is a story from personal experience about how you pass exams. One of many personal experiences reflected in a series of stories throughout the book.

(excerpt)
"We could for example, see why a satellite phone system that costs billions of dollars to implement would ultimately fail, and this was currently on the market... ."
