It’s not illegal to tell
you,
but immoral. But it’s safe to say if you learn the rules of critical thinking, then provided
you have enough time, you can answer any question, but the problem then
becomes, are you certain? Because critical thinking and
evaluation is about making the right decision without what I call excess
baggage which we pick up since birth, from everyone around us, who just so
happens to be our friends and foes and of course our parents.
Yes, the number of times
I have sent my computer from the black hole and back again. In that time I have
often wondered what else it can do, apart from just add up.
That's why I studied
artificial intelligence at university. The things you learn. It’s amazing
what artificial intelligence is doing to make the world a
better place to live in, if only you would give it a chance.
Even today, AI (Artificial
Intelligence) is used in a host of products; from cancer screening,
passport control, mobile phone apps, you name it AI is there as your
quarterback ready and waiting to launch an offensive, with the old two nine
routine. If you see it, forget it.

When you suffer with
bipolar you have a habit of repeating yourself, or something like that, they
call it rapid cycling. But with something as important as making the right
decision at crucial times it’s important to repeat yourself.
The hardest part sometimes is not
knowing if you have made the right decision, until you have. It’s easy for a
computer to make the right or wrong decision because it has no feelings. It
doesn't matter if your credit card goes barmy, or your hairdryer goes on the
blink, because it's only after you have made the decision, that sometimes
you realise you have made the right or wrong choice.
It’s a puzzle only made worse
when you have not negated all of the negative bias and bigotry that you have
brought with you since birth. So understanding what the question asked is first
principle of critical thinking. Believe me, if you
do not understand this principle you are going nowhere fast.
There is an old saying, which programmers
like me, like to use about cryptography, you can crack the code, but, can you
understand the message? You may think you do, that is almost
guaranteed. The question is, are you certain?
I devote a chapter in my book to: why students fail with explanation and examples so that you don’t fail?
Plus: the number one topic you should understand, it could mean the difference between passing and failing?
Here is a list of stories included in “How to Pass a Degree with Confidence” they are not in any order, purely random.
To be or not to be
It’s never too late
We don't all wear the same shoes
We have all the time in the world
Sat there like a Cheshire cat
There’s a bit more meat on the bone
More stress than a chaining smoking nurse
The golden rule
How I got my T-Shirt
A girl came knocking on my window
Realise your potential it’s within you to succeed. Your success is not proportional to the effort you put in, that part is purely random.
