This film should be screened in every school, college, and university especially to those less privileged students around the world in places such as India, China, Russia, and Africa in fact universally made available to all students rich and poor. I cannot stress enough the significance of this film for inspiring confidence in students and understanding the importance of debate. The film is called “The Great Debaters” and is a true story.
Debate is fundamental and it is the basis of democracy, and how laws are formed by a consensus of members provided they are given a free vote without the doctrine of a political party to adhere to. The same applies through law courts when a case is argued adversarially on both sides in front of a jury. The jury are there to understand what the truth is, and to find a consensus.
Above all the film will inspire confidence in students and to learn respect for others. It is a thought provoking film that I believe will help negate bigotry or bias from our reasoning as a human being.
I devote a chapter in my book to: why students fail with explanation and examples so that you don’t fail?
Plus: the number one topic you should understand, it could mean the difference between passing and failing?
Here is a list of stories included in “How to Pass a Degree with Confidence” they are not in any order, purely random.
